Donegal Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill has welcomed confirmation that the work on the extension to Letterkenny General Hospital will resume on Monday next.

Senator Ó Domhnaill said; “I am delighted with the news that the work will resume on the €22 million extension at the Hospital which includes a new emergency department and medical assessment unit.”

“The work on the project stopped in November when the building firm went into receivership. I welcome the announcement that an agreement has been reached which will now allow the sub-contractors involved to continue the work on the project from next week.”

“The project is now almost a year behind schedule however the work is expected to be complete early next year which will come as a relief to the staff at the hospital who have been struggling to deal with high levels of patients and overcrowding while they wait on the completion of the new facility.”
