Ó Domhnaill calls for reversal of Student Grant Cuts

General Election Candidate Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill has this week called on the Secretary General at the Department of Education and Skills to reverse its decision to change student grants cuts.

Earlier this week Ó Domhnaill said: “This will put serious financial pressure on students who are in receipt of the VEC grants.  The change in the kilometre criteria will deny student access to third level education for those who want to stay at home and travel to college daily. ”

“These cuts will put the prospect of third level education out of reach for many as the travel and accommodation costs will be too high.”

“I have requested that the Secretary General to review these cuts and consider reverting back to the original criteria.” ; said Ó Domhnaill
