Ó Domhnaill Confirms Tenders Sought for Dungloe & Glenties Scheme

Donegal South West Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill has today received confirmation from the Minister for the Environment Eamon Ó Cuív TD that approval has been given by his Department to Donegal County Council to seek tenders for the provision of new sewerage schemes in Dungloe & Glenties.

Ó Domhnaill said: “The contract is being funded under the Departments Water Services Investment Programme 2010-2012.”

“The contract will provide new wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations and some sewers in Dungloe and Glenties to replace the present outdated infrastructure. The new works will facilitate existing and future residential and commercial development in the Dungloe and Glenties Area.”

“The new state of the art wastewater treatment plants, which will treat the wastewater in each location to the highest standards, will ensure that the local environment is enhanced and the good quality of the Dungloe and Owenea Rivers are protected and improved.”

“Following my ongoing representations on these projects in con-junction with MEP Pat the Cope Gallagher I am very pleased that approval of the tender documents clears the way for Donegal County Council to seek tenders for the contract and I will be pressing the Council to do so as soon as possible.”

“This announcement has been welcomed by Cllr David Alcorn and former Cllr Enda Bonner.”
