Sinn Féin Show Their True Colours With Raid On Government Buildings – Ó Domhnaill
“Doherty should condemn attack”

Brian Ó Domhnaill, Fianna Fáil candidate in the Donegal South West bye-election, has utterly condemned Sinn Féin for its “disgraceful” attack on Government Buildings in Dublin. He has also called on the Sinn Féin candidate in the bye-election, Senator Pearse Doherty, to condemn the attack and those involved, including his Parliamentary Party colleague Aengus Ó Snodaigh.

Senator Ó Domhnaill said: “These are difficult times for Ireland. There are a lot of raw feelings in the country, feelings which I share. The irresponsible actions of a few reckless bankers has resulted in the Government being forced to take the actions it has taken this week.

“It is time for calm heads and focussed action. We must take the necessary steps to get Donegal and our country back on track. Only in this way will we see a return to stability, recovery, and growth. And when those steps are taken, we should all engage in a healthy debate about them, as happens in every healthy democracy.

“By raiding Government Buildings in the appalling way that it has, Sinn Féin has shown its true colours and the real contribution it has to make in Ireland’s time of crisis.

“It is especially disgraceful that a Sinn Féin TD took part in that raid. This image has been broadcast to the world via international media outlets. Footage of Sinn Féin members, and one of its elected representatives, breaking through the gates sends out the very worst possible message about politics in Ireland.

“I unreservedly condemn the actions of these people. I would also call on the Sinn Féin candidate in the bye-election, Senator Pearse Doherty, to condemn the actions of his fellow party members. Unless these actions are condemned, they are implicitly condoned.

I also ask the people of Donegal to ask whether they should elect someone from a party that forces its way into Government Buildings, or should they elect someone who stands up for them and their interests in Dáil Éireann. That is the choice they face between Pearse Doherty and Brian Ó Domhnaill.
