Funding Boost for Cloughaneely GAA Club

Ó Domhnaill Welcomes Funding Boost for Cloughaneely GAA Club

Fianna Fáil candidate in the Donegal South West bye-election Brian Ó Domhnaill has welcomed news that Cloughaneely GAA Club in Falcarragh has been allocated €36,400 in funding. The investment was approved by Minister for Community, Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs Pat Carey TD.

“I am delighted that this funding has been made available at this time. This grant will provide for new fencing, and ancillary works. Next year, we hope to be in a position to secure funding for the second phase of works which would improve the toilet and shower facilities.

“This is particularly welcome as the club makes its preparations to host the Comortás Péil na Gaeltachta in 2011.

“Investment in sporting clubs and organisations is essential for our rural communities. Local clubs often form the backbone of rural life, providing a vital focus for the community, bringing people together while encouraging a lifetime commitment to sport and fitness for children.”

“Cloughaneely GAA Club has already had a very successful year – The reserve team won the championship, and the senior team was promoted to division 1. I would like to pay tribute to the club committee, to all the players, and to the numerous volunteers for all the work they do.”
