Cast Iron Assurance: Savings and Deposits are Safe – Ó Domhnaill
Donegal South West bye-election candidate, Brian Ó Domhnaill, has welcomed the cast-iron guarantee that the savings and deposits of the public are secure in Irish banks.
“The Minister for Finance has stated in very clear terms that those with money in our banks have nothing to fear. The Minister has told the Dáil: ‘Let me be clear: deposits are safe. Nothing in the content of the discussions that are now underway or anything that may arise thereafter will affect that fact. Depositors can depend and rely on the protection offered by the State Guarantee up to now and into the future. This was underscored with the passage of the Guarantee scheme for a further 12 month period in national law to the end of 2011.’
“This guarantee should reassure all people, young and old, that their money in Irish banks is safe and secure”, concluded Senator Ó Domhnaill.
