Meeting with Minister on Donegal Airport PSO

Ó Domhnaill Meets with Transport Minister on Donegal Airport PSO

Donegal South West Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill has today (Monday) confirmed that he has had a very positive meeting with Transport Minister Noel Dempsey TD about the future of the Public Service Obligation (PSO) for Donegal Airport.

Senator Ó Domhnaill said; “I had an in-depth discussion with the Minister about the importance of the PSO to the future of Donegal Airport but also to the Donegal Region.”

“Following the meeting I am very confident that the Government will continue to provide the PSO Subsidy to Donegal Airport. The daily return service offered from Donegal International Airport to Dublin is crucially important to the County from an Economic, Culture and Tourism point of view.”

“I would like to acknowledge the ongoing commitment that Minister Dempsey is showing to the future of Donegal Airport.”

“I have also discussed the issue of the HSE subsidy for Cancer Patients travelling by air to and from Dublin and have received confirmation from the HSE Manager for Donegal, Mr. John Hayes, that there will be no reduction in the available funding for this service in 2011.”

“This service represents a very important service for Cancer Patients and it is vital to protect the subsidy and therefore I welcome the clarification on the matter. HSE Management will also meeting with the organisers of the Cancer Travel Support Service this week.”
