Additional €900,000 for Donegal County Council

Ó Domhnaill Confirms Additional €900,000 for Donegal County Council

Donegal South West Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill has welcomed confirmation from the Minister for Environment, Heritage & Local Government that €890,000 of an additional allocation is being made available to Donegal County Council under the Local Government Fund to help meet the costs of operating Water & Sewerage Treatment Plants and the sampling and licensing costs associated with the Water Services Sector.

Ó Domhnaill said: “This allocation is in additional to the Local Government fund general purpose grants that were already notified to Donegal Local Authorities for 2010.”

“The funding will directly contribute towards the domestic share of the Council’s operation and maintenance costs on recently completed water and wastewater treatment plants.”

“The funding will also be used by the Council to offset sampling costs to establish compliance with drinking water & wastewater effluent standards and licence application fees to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for wastewater discharges.”; Concluded Ó Domhnaill
