Public Meetings on N56 Upgrade

Donegal South West Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill has today (Friday) confirmed that two Public Consultation meetings will be held by Donegal County Council regarding the N56 Dungloe to Glenties (Kilraine) Road Scheme.

“The meetings will be held over two days as follows;

  • Council Chamber, Dungloe Public Service Centre, Tuesday 27th July 2010, 4.00p.m. to 8.00pm
  • Highlands Hotel, Glenties, Wednesday 28th July 2010, 4.00p.m. to 8.00p.m

“I encourage all local residents to attend the public meetings where an opportunity will be available to put forward comments to the project team.” ;Said Ó Domhnaill

Ó Domhnaill said; ”The National Roads Authority have allocated €950,000 towards this project this year. The funding will allow the compiling of a comprehensive design and survey for a new single carriageway road type. The proposed project involves the Design and Construction of approximately 27km of new National Secondary Road from Dungloe to Kilraine Junction.The Scheme also includes the provision of a cycle track for it’s full length.”

“To date preliminary alignment design is complete and early environmental assessments are underway. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIS) will also be carried out.”

In conclusion Ó Domhnaill said; “I believe that the Public Consultation sessions will provide an important opportunity to local residents and landowners to feed into the development of the new single carriageway road.”
